Andrea Fraser 2013:
Texts, Scripts and Transcripts

In 2013, the Wolfgang Hahn Prize was awarded to Andrea Fraser, one of the most important representatives of so-called ‘institutional criticism’. The award honours contemporary artists for their highly recognised oeuvre and the consistent further development of artistic questions.

The exhibition (21 April – 21 July 2013) was accompanied by a textbook that sheds light on Fraser’s theory and practice. Since 2003, Andrea Fraser’s oeuvre has made a decisive turnaround. Two of the theoretical texts written by the artist herself, complemented by two essays by Barbara Engelbach and Gregg Bordowitz, provide an introduction into Fraser’s more recent work. What is more, the scripts from Fraser’s video piece Projections from 2008 and her performance Men on the Line from 2012, which had their European premiere at the Museum Ludwig on 21 June 2013, are also included in the appendix.

The book is edited by Carla Cugini, Gesellschaft für Moderne Kunst am Museum Ludwig e.V. (Cologne 2013, 320 pages).

Available from Buchhandlung Walther König.
