The sixth exhibition in the HERE AND NOW at Museum Ludwig series was created in collaboration with the Contemporary And (C&) platform which, according to its founders Julia Grosse and Yvette Mutumba, sees itself as a “dynamic space where topics and information on contemporary art practice and the Global Diaspora are reflected upon and networked.” C& publishes online art magazines, presents digital art productions, and issues a print magazine three times a year. In the exhibition, projects by C& were presented and juxtaposed with other artistic positions by The Nest Collective, CUSS & Vukani Ndebele, and Nkiruka Oparah and Frida Orupabo. At the center of the exhibition was the C& Center of Unfinished Business project, a participatory and site-specific reading room with a focus on cultural productions from Africa and the Global Diaspora, which is expanded depending on the location—in Cologne, with selected publications from the Art and Museum Library, among others. In the process, gaps in a Western-centered art history are questioned and aspects of a colonial past thematized.
