HERE AND NOW at Museum Ludwig - Anticolonial interventions

October 8, 2022 – February 5, 2023

The eighth exhibition in the series HERE AND NOW at Museum Ludwig focuses on power relations in the museum context and embarks on a search for Latin American art in the permanent collection of Museum Ludwig. The foray by Daniela Ortiz (*1985 in Peru), Paula Baeza Pailamilla (*1988 in Chile), Pavel Aguilar (*1989 in Honduras), and Paloma Ayala (*1980 in Mexico) provokes reflection and opens a discourse on the possible exoticization of the global South and sometimes discriminatory practices in the art world. The exhibition includes a performance, sound-, sculpture- and video installations, as well as several clay figures that visitors can actively interact with.
Party thoughtful, partly humorous, but always from a critical perspective, the young artists from Latin America turn the collection upside down and raise important questions about the past, present, and future of the museum as an institution, distributed throughout the building.
