Schnittvorlagen. Marcel Odenbach

Marcel Odenbach’s (b. 1953 in Cologne) Schnittvorlagen (templates) are the artist’s ongoing image archive and the basis of his current work. Taken from magazines, brochures, and other sources, the motifs, which the winner of the 2021 Wolfgang Hahn Prize groups thematically, offer profound insight into his artistic approach and are also “significant works in their own right,” explains Yilmaz Dziewior, Director of Museum Ludwig. The publication reproduces Odenbach’s Schnittvorlagen from 2001 to 2021 for the first time and in chronological order as the 2021 Wolfgang Hahn Prize acquisition for the Museum Ludwig.

In addition to numerous illustrations, the catalogue includes contributions by Yilmaz Dziewior, Director of the Museum Ludwig, Cologne, and Susanne Pfeffer, Director of the Museum MMK für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt am Main.
