This object, which Rosenquist created as a giant collage comprising painting, wood, and glass, was presented by Peter and Irene Ludwig to the City of Cologne in 1976. Since then it has been part of the collection of the Museum Ludwig. Rosenquist chiefly worked with a melancholy-seeming palette of various gray and blue tones. In the center of the image he had a dazzling, rainbow-like veil of color run from the windowsill down the side of the house. In the window, of which one pane is broken, stands a huge fork that appears like an intruder and from whose prongs the rainbow colors could have flowed.

The facsimiles and the reproductions of the works of art by the American artist James Rosenquist (1933–2017) are issued by the Gesellschaft für Moderne Kunst in cooperation with the Museum Ludwig in conjunction with the exhibition James Rosenquist: Painting as Immersion. We thank the Estate of James Rosenquist for authorizing the edition. The sale proceeds benefit the museum.
