Wolfgang-Hahn-Preis 2017:
Laudation for Trisha Donnelly by Suzanne Cotter

On the occasion of the awarding of the Wolfgang Hahn Prize 2017 to the US American artist Trisha Donnelly, the Gesellschaft für Moderne Kunst published the laudatory speech presented by the guest juror Suzanne Cotter (Director of the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Serralves, Porto).
In 2016, Cotter organised a solo exhibition with the artist in Porto and referred in her laudatory speech to Donnelly’s consistent and outstanding artistic work and her site-specific approach. Donnelly’s cross-media works challenge the viewer’s perception. Her reserve with regard to auxiliary information and explanations underscores her aspiration to make art a sensorial experience. With her laudatory speech, Cotter captured the elusive spirit of Donnelly’s oeuvre and thus conveyed an impression of the prize winner’s artistic methods.
In her contribution to the publication, Barbara Engelbach (curator of the collection of contemporary art, photography, and media art of the Museum Ludwig) addresses the genesis and history of the prize awarded in memory of its namesake Wolfgang Hahn.

Edited by Carla Cugini, Gesellschaft für Moderne Kunst am Museum Ludwig e.V. (Cologne 2017, 28 pages), retail price: 10 Euro
